Your next steps
- Identify the road
Check whether the city is responsible for the road.
- Report the location
Give the street, nearest address or intersection and the pothole details.
- Understand the standard
The repair table uses road class, size and depth. It is not a promise for every reported defect.

Submit a locatable report
Use the Report a Pothole form, call 905-356-1355 or email service@niagarafalls.ca. Provide street name and nearest address or intersection. An optional photo can help identify the spot and severity. Do not stop unsafely to obtain a photograph.
Reports enter a work-order system and are distributed to crews. The page targets approximately 48 hours to triage the report. Triage means assessing and assigning it; it is not a universal 48-hour completed-repair guarantee.

Read the maintenance table correctly
The source reproduces paved-road standards by road class, surface area and depth under Ontario’s minimum-maintenance framework. Every class row uses an eight-centimetre depth, with different area and time entries. Those standards are not an appointment time for every small crack or report.
Use the city Property tool to find the road classification and its Street Name and Ownership Index to find the owner. Do not infer class from how busy a street looks or direct every road inside the municipal boundary to city crews.

Other road owners
MTO maintains 400-series highways and QEW ramps; report there at 1-800-268-4686. Niagara Parks Commission maintains its own roads and has a separate contact form. Niagara Region maintains regional roads; call 905-980-6000 extension 3690 or 1-877-552-5579 for its reports.
This guide summarizes those routes from the city source. It does not claim an exhaustive list of every private road or assume that a city service request transfers automatically to another operator.

Why a winter patch may fail again
Water enters pavement cracks, freezes and expands, then leaves gaps as it melts. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles and vehicle loads can break unsupported asphalt. The city uses workable cold patch in winter, but bonding is weaker and it is generally temporary. More permanent materials are used in summer.
Seasonal load limits also protect roads during thaw. Niagara Region publishes applicable reduced-load routes, while oversize or overweight movement needs the relevant permit. A pothole report is not permission to exceed a load restriction or proof that every damage claim is accepted.
